Field Day 2013

Survivor Island!

On June 12th, the students of Long Beach Island School District enjoyed an exciting morning of tropical challenges by participating in Survivor Island Field Day.  Each class or "tribe" was led by their "tribal leader" carrying a beautifully designed character trait shield and embarked upon many creative,
problem-solving activities such as Costa Rican Canteen Challenge, Samoan Smoke Signal, Caribbean Coconut Carry, and Fiji Island Fire Drill.

It was a wonderful day, filled with ice-pops and smiles, which celebrated the character and strength of all of us impacted by tropical storm Sandy.

LAST DAY FOR STUDENTS

Barnegat Bay Blitz 2012

The Barnegat Bay Blitz, an event led by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and New Jersey Clean Communities Council, involves various partners throughout Ocean County, such as towns and schools, coming together and focusing on the local environment to help clean up the bay and watershed area. The goal is to promote awareness of our connection to the bay, and to help appreciate Barnegat Bay and our natural resources. Our school participated in this spring's event by visiting the lighthouse, cleaning up our school grounds, cleaning up the marshes and beaches, as well as planting dune grass and other beach plants. Our students thoroughly enjoy cleaning up their local environment, and truly feel that the Barnegat Bay Blitz is the best field trip!
